My Car is Under Warranty - What if the Dealer Won't Cover Repairs

Some consumers would rather pay a company to share the risk of future car repairs. However, many end up being shockingly awakened when the repair shop or dealer is not willing to cover for certain repairs. The good news is that you are not all alone, there are non-profit, and governmental agencies that are willing to help if you ask for it. Better yet, there is an act that not many consumers are aware of. The Magnuson-Moss warranty ACT. This is based on the breach of service contracts, express and implied warranties. This act allows the consumer to recover attorney fee if successful.

The first source of resolution should be internal. If the salesperson is not willing resolve the problem, ask to talk to the general manager, and even the owner of the dealership, or the repair shop. Be sure to inform them that you are ready to take further actions if not resolved internally. If the dealer still disagrees with you, and you are positive about your right you need to follow the the procedures below. You should also mention to them that you are fully aware of The Magnuson-Moss warranty ACT., and that the next place you are to visit is an attorney's office for a consultation. Contact an attorney, take advantage of the free consultation, and see if you can make a deal to where they are paid only if you are compensated.

If you are person that doesn't like going the attorney route, then if the issue is over the car manufacturer's warranty, then get in touch with their local or closest zone representation. Hence, some manufacturers would be willing to repair certain problems for free, even if not covered by the policy. If results have not been archived yet, your next place should be the local Better Business Bureau (BBB), and your state attorney general. Another powerful agency is AUTOCAP (Automotive Consumer Action Program). This is a program that is coordinated by the NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association). Contact the local association and get their advise, consult for mediation program.
